Kunzites are a variety of the mineral Spodumen and its shade varies between complete colourlessness and dark-violet.
Kunzites are transparent stones, the most beautiful and wanted versions are deep pink with a blueish tinge.
The eponym was George Frederick Kunz, a famous american gemmologist who discovered in 1903 the Kunzite in California employed at Tiffany & Co.
