Tourmaline
Especially divers and colourful.
The especially colourful Tourmaline exists in blue, green, red, pink, brown or black tones. A single crystal often can show different colours. The name Tourmaline derives from the singhalesian word ‘thuramali’, a word used generally for colourful gemstones found in Sri Lanka.
In Germany the Tourmaline is mainly known by the inlay in the football championship trophy of the Bundesliga of 11 small and 5 large Tourmaline stones.
The Tourmaline was used already in the 19th century as polarisation filter to cut off reflections.
